The Intensa Spanish Language School in Alajuela is readily accessible by public transportation, and is within 16 kilometers (10 miles) of downtown San José, not far from the country's major international airport and close to the renowned El Poás Volcano and many other major tourist attractions. While still retaining its original slower paced, bedroom community atmosphere, the town has become a hub for import/export activities. At an altitude of 952 meters (3123 feet) its climate is a bit warmer than San José's.
Not far from downtown Alajuela is Atenas, a town that belongs to the Alajuela Province and which is said to have the world's best climate by National Geographic Magazine (the temperature averages 72 degrees Fahrenheit, 22.2 degrees Celsius, year round!)
The Spanish language school in Alajuela is just a short walk from the town's central park, cathedral, central marketplace, and restaurants. It is also half an hour closer to the country's Pacific coast beaches, while remaining very close to our other two Spanish language schools.
